Nystagmus Blockage Syndrome

Postby danimae1981 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 3:39 pm

Yesterday Madelyn saw her pediatric ophthalmologist - in addition to her nystagmus, her eyes have begun to turn in. The doctor suspects that it's Nystagmus Blockage Syndrome, where her eyes are converging in an attempt to slow down the eye movement. Has anyone ever heard of/experienced NBS? The good news is that she is still switching between both eyes, but the doctor wants us to start patching her eye for 2 hours a day (alternating which eye is patched) to ensure that she is still using both eyes. Eventually she will probably need surgery to correct the eye turn.

i personally haven't heard of or experienced nystagmus blockage syndrome, but if you would like further info, then take a look at this website http://www.iovs.org/cgi/reprint/24/12/1580.pdf
